LAS CASAS is an educational program offering English instruction to adults. Classes take place at Cristo Rey de la Salle High School, in the Fruitvale District of Oakland. For your safety and others, we require that students be vaccinated to attend classes.

Schedule
Classes are held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m.
We offer five levels of instruction from Introduction through Intermediate. We follow a school calendar, beginning in September and ending in May.
Enrollment
While our main registration happens at the start of Fall and Spring semesters, we offer rolling enrollment. We hold assessment nights throughout the school year for those who didn’t get in at the start of the semester. It is possible to enroll in classes following a placement test, and pending space available.

New Student Assessments

We are no longer assessing students for the current fall semester (September to December 2023).
If you are interested in joining classes for the spring semester (January to May 2024), please fill out your contact information HERE and we will contact you before our next Assessment dates in December.

Our assessment will tell us your level so that you are placed in the correct class. COVID-19 vaccination is required.

The registration fee for Spring 2024 will be $40.

New Students
To register for classes with Las Casas, students must complete an oral and written Assessment to determine their class level. There are 2 or 3 Assessment nights each semester (Fall and Spring). Once a student has been assessed they are placed in one of five class levels. If space is available, a postcard is mailed asking the student to come and register.
Orientation and registration is required for all new students before starting class (see below for the next available Assessment and Orientation dates) The registration fee varies by semester - the Fall semester is $30 and the Spring semester is $40. The registration fees include the textbook and all classroom materials.
Returning Students
Students continuing from the prior semester can register for classes at a Registration night.
